Postnatal Pilates

Specially designed 1-2-1 Pilates training for new Mums in London

Mum with babyPregnancy and birth are big events in the life of a woman. They can change your life, your mind and your body. You are a mum now and there is a chance you feel there has been a before and after your pregnancy and birth and don’t feel comfortable in your body anymore.

You are probably wondering whether you will be able to restore your previous fitness level. Not only that, motherhood is not easy. You need to pick up and move your baby, and later you will need to run after your toddlers and engage in lots of physical activities: slides, scooters, bicycles, bouncy castles… You need to get your body together or you are going to miss loads of fun.

Pilates will allow you to regain your body, increase your flexibility, reduce your pain and improve your movement, agility and strength. My postnatal programme takes a holistic approach to restore your body after the strain of pregnancy and birth. I am really committed to helping you work with your body and not against it. Your body is talking to you and you just need to listen to it.

In my postnatal Pilates sessions, you will perform the right exercises for your level of health and fitness and you will learn how you can progress them at your own pace. You will learn why breathing is an important aspect of your recovery and the correct breathing techniques to help you. We will also work to strengthen your pelvic floor after birth. Before we start, I will check to see if you have a diastasis recti, discuss what it is and the correct sequence of exercises to reduce or eliminate it.

We will work on your personal needs, creating a special programme for you and allowing your body to unfold and recover its strength, flexibility and balance. We will also practice proven stress-reducing techniques that will help you achieve a full healing. We can focus on meeting your individual needs and your specific goals. You will enjoy a personalized approach and you will get my full attention for the length of our sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this training for?

All the content in my courses is designed for mamas who want to go deeper and really reconnect with their body, take control of their recovery, uplift their energy and find balance in their lives.

How soon after birth can I start your programme?

Your GP can give you the all clear to start exercising at your 6-8 weeks check up. However, if you have had a c-section it is usually a good idea to wait at least 12 weeks postpartum just to make sure that your scar has healed enough.

My baby is 12 months old. Is it too late for me?

There is always time to heal. Be it 2 months, 2 years or 20 years after birth you can always see results if you work hard enough. However, the earlier you join the programme, the quicker you will start to see them.

I have already restarted my usual yoga class/pilates/gym/tennis, etc

It is usually a good idea when coming back to exercise after pregnancy to start with a specific postnatal programme.

Even if you are already exercising, I can help identify what exercises are safe for you and which ones you should avoid at the moment.

We can also put more emphasis on the hands-on part of my programme and work on soft tissue release and relaxation.

After my c-section, I felt my body had failed me. I don’t trust my body to be able to regain its previous shape.

I am familiar with those feelings. After my c-section I thought I would never be in shape again and that I had to carry the pain and discomfort forever. However, with the correct care (and I have to emphasize the word correct) your body will respond and regain strength, mobility and vitality.

I still have issues accepting that my child was born by c-section. Is it OK to start your programme?

Yes. Those feelings are quite common after a c-section but getting to know your body and being able to reconnect with it will help you come to terms with them. I am committed to providing a safe environment where women can find understanding, support and a non-judgmental approach to their issues.

I don't like exercising. I was not exercising before my pregnancy. How can you help me?

Exercise is very important in our day to day life but you can decide what fitness level is OK for you. You can set your own goals and I will adapt my programme to meet your needs.

My approach is very gentle and relaxed and you will not feel any pressure. You will not be judged on what your past fitness history was.

I have a disability. Can I still work with you?

I am committed to a learning experience that is inclusive and free from discrimination. Please contact me and we will work out the best way to help you.

About Me

My name is Eva Torres and I am a massage therapist, Reiki master and pilates instructor. I am also a Rossiter coach and I am qualified as a Pre and Postnatal therapist and exercise instructor. I have years of experience in the field of body and energy healing. I am a mum as well who gave birth by emergency c-section. After the birth of my daughter, I decided I wanted to focus on helping women like me to feel better and reconnect with their bodies and their lives after having babies.

I help mums to reduce or get rid of the physical pain they carry since the birth of their babies. That includes specific treatment for women that gave birth by c-section. I also support them so they can release negative energy, thoughts and emotions, create body and mind balance, lower their stress levels and improve their movement and range of motion.
